![]() The Beatles did a six day stint at the Gaumont Theatre 19-24 August 1963. This recording must date form one of those shows. This recording has not surfaced on bootleg. Based on the BBC News description, the recording probably has decent quality and would be an important document. It's the earliest recording of The Beatles as a 'show' band (on the Star Club recordings, they were still a 'bar' band). |

The sound recording, made at a concert in Bournemouth, was sold to a private collector. The high-quality 10-song tape - recorded during a 1963 concert by the chief technician at the Gaumont Theatre and put up for sale by his daughter - captures the Beatles' jokey repartee with the audience. |
