Songwriters Festival
Birmingham, Ronnie Scott's

Review by Tracey

And so as the festival draws to a close it's time for one more great show. Carina Round starts her performance with an unaccompanied vocal and as her voice sours, careers and envelops Ronnie Scotts the conversations dwindle until hers is the only sound in the packed out room. This is very different to her appearance at last years festival, more self-assured and stronger sounding than ever her recent touring stint with Miles Hunt has done her no harm at all.

As a huge fan of The Wonderstuff it was with mixed feelings that I viewed seeing Miles Hunt the solo performer. I needn't have worried for this acoustic set of his new material was of a similar quality and of the old songs aired they worked incredibly well in these intimate surroundings. Previous to this his solo offering had been a complete mystery, but I'm intrigue to hear his soon to be released new album. A real treat for the end of what had been a fantastic festival. See you all next time.
