The Disconnection Tour
Review by Steve Asenjo
Well I'm absolutely knackered but have had a cool weekend!
We travelled up to Bristol to see Carina play the Thekla. Bit of a bizarre venue but a really good vibe. It was actually one of the regular indie type club nights they have there (called 'Espionage') so for most people the live band was probably an unexpected bonus.
Typically exuberant performance from Carina, and the band sound so assured (love the pedal effect Tom uses on 'Into My Blood')! Got to chat to them after and they seemed to feel the gig had been a bit anti-climatic after the rest of the tour but I would say that they were generally very well received by the audience who after all had mostly come for the club night.
The gig was filmed by someone at the venue though I don't know if we'll ever get to see it. I do hope so. Carina said she might put it on the website if it's any good. Fingers crossed for that then!
After their set Carina and all the band stayed to have a boogie with the rest of us till about 3am. Some really good stuff was played and everyone was well up for it. An usual but enjoyable night!
